How do I submit a public records request?+
Use the Submit a Request button above, or send a written request to the City Clerk's office. Include your name, contact info, and as specific a description of the records you're seeking as possible. Can I watch City Council meetings live?+
Yes. All City Council meetings are streamed live and archived for on-demand viewing. Live streams are available on this page when a meeting is in progress, and on the City's YouTube channel. Past meetings are available with searchable agenda timestamps within 48 hours of conclusion.
How can I provide public comment on legislation?+
You can submit written comment through the bill page, sign up to speak at a public hearing, or send an email directly to City Council members. Public hearings are required for most ordinances before final adoption. Each bill page lists the comment options and deadlines.
How long are records kept?+
Retention schedules vary by record type and are governed by Maryland State Archives requirements. Permanent records include ordinances, council minutes, and historic plans. Other records — like routine correspondence — may have shorter retention periods.

The Office of the City Clerk is the official custodian of city records and supports the City Council. Call 410-263-7942 or email cityclerk@annapolis.gov. Office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
