Frequently asked questions

Recreation & programs
Do I have to be an Annapolis resident to register?+
No — programs are open to everyone. Annapolis residents pay reduced fees and get priority registration. Residents can verify their address once and the discount applies automatically. Non-residents pay the standard rate.
When does registration open for summer programs?+
Resident registration opens the first Monday in March; general public registration opens two weeks later. Sign up for notifications to be alerted when your favorite programs open. Popular camps fill within 24–48 hours.
Are scholarships or financial assistance available?+
Yes. Need-based scholarships are available for camps, swim lessons, and programs for residents who qualify. Apply once per year through the Recreation office. Scholarship application →
What's the refund policy?+
Full refunds are available up to 7 days before a program starts. After that, refunds are issued only for medical reasons with documentation. Pro-rated credits may apply if more than 50% of a program remains. Some camps have stricter policies — see the program page.
Can I reserve a park pavilion or facility for a private event?+
Yes — most parks and facilities are available for private rentals (birthday parties, family reunions, sports tournaments, weddings). Submit a facility reservation request through our permits page, with at least 14 days lead time.
How do I get information about an event near me?+
Major events like the Fourth of July, Boat Shows, and Naval Academy events affect traffic, parking, and noise. Subscribe to event notifications to get alerts about anything happening near your address. Sign up for alerts →
