Accountability & oversight

Transparency · public input
Our commitment to transparency

How we are accountable to the community we serve.

The Annapolis Police Department operates under multiple layers of oversight — the Mayor & Council, an independent Police Accountability Board, and Maryland's state-level Administrative Charging Committee. Here's how to engage.

File a complaint

If you have a concern about an interaction with an officer, you can file a complaint. We investigate every complaint and report findings publicly.

File a complaint →

Give a commendation

Had a positive experience with an officer? We share commendations with the officer's chain of command — and they matter.

Submit commendation →

Police Accountability Board

The 7-member citizen-led PAB reviews complaints, conducts oversight, and reports to the City Council quarterly. Meetings are public.
